5 Ways to Throw a Winning Super Bowl Party

Well footballs fans, it is at once the greatest and saddest day of the year: Super Bowl Sunday. Why? For the awesome game (and commercials) of course….aaaaaand because it is the last game of football you will see until August.

Either way you look at it, Super Bowl Sunday is a great day to throw a party, and we’ve got some quick party tips to ensure your bash is a big win.

  • Let’s talk about food.

The good news is, Super Bowl party food is pretty simple; lots of chips, dips, burgers and hot dogs, but don’t be afraid to throw in a few easy signature dishes. We saw this great recipe in Food Network Magazine for Chex Mix Rice Krispy Treats. Simply melt 4 tbsp. of butter in a saucepan and mix in a 10 oz. bag of marshmallows over medium heat until combined. Remove from heat and mix in 6 cups of Chex Mix, press into a baking pan and let set until cooled. Voila!

  • Drink it in.

Whether your guests are big drinkers or not, it’s always good to have a few drink options on hand. Whether it be sodas, waters, or beer, make sure there’s a little something for everyone. And a signature cocktail is fun here too. Try making a big batch of Sangria as a refreshing treat.

  • Seat check.

There’s nothing worse than a party (that centers around a television set) without adequate seating. If you don’t have enough chairs, get creative and throw pillows, cushions and beanbags on the floor so that everyone has a place to catch all of the football action.

  • Kid’s Corner.

Any parent will tell you that if their kid is bored, they will most likely cause some kind of mischief. If you anticipate kids at your party, don’t sweat it. Create a kid’s Corner with games, puzzles, etc to keep them occupied while the adults enjoy some “me” time. If you don’t have kids yourself, consider grabbing some coloring books and crayons from the $1 store. Hours of entertainment.

  • Thanks for coming.

Once the play clock runs out, and everyone is gathering up to leave, you begin to wonder what to do with all of that leftover food. A great solution (we do this for our clients at all of our events) is to grab cheap plastic to-go containers. This way, everyone can take home a bit of the party and you aren’t stuck trying to resist eating all of the leftover queso for breakfast, lunch and dinner on Monday morning.

No matter what you choose to do, enjoy your time with friends and family, and may the best team win!

Saying “I Do”: A Groom’s Perspective.

To follow up our previous “sweet” post about a proposal on New Year’s Day, we thought we would stay on the topic of weddings and dive into all that it takes to plan one.

Ask any girl and she will tell you that her wedding is the most important day of her life. From deciding on décor, music, catering, to of course, the perfect dress. When it comes to weddings in general, the focus is always on the bride and it’s a long standing joke that all the groom has to do is rent a tux and show up….(and maybe taste some cake).

Well, that’s basically true, but we’re sure that grooms have SOME things to say about the big day; it is after all, the most important day of their lives too. Either that or Super Bowl Sunday….the jury is still out on that one.

We surveyed 5 veteran grooms and asked them a few simple questions regarding the big day:

  1. What were you most nervous about?
  2. What were you most excited about?
  3. Favorite part of the day?
  4. What really mattered when it was all said and done?

Answers:

  1. Four out of five said they were most nervous when they saw their fiancé walking down the aisle; that’s when it all became real, they say. The fifth, well, he was worried about tripping up on the vows that he wrote himself.
  2. Most excited? The parttttaaayyyyyyy! Every single dude answered the same on that one.
  3. Three out of five said their favorite part of the day was when they sealed the deal with a kiss, and the other two said when it was over! They were both so relieved to have all of the planning and stress behind them.
  4. What mattered most? This one was unanimous: That their (now wives) were happy and they could begin their lives together.

Moral of the story? Ladies, don’t sweat the small stuff. You may want to ensure that you pick the perfect color napkins or construct the perfect signature cocktail, but in the end, it’s all about the LOVE. <3

A “Sweet” Start to 2015!

Happy 2015 readers! We are thrilled to announce that with this new year comes a ton of great new content for the blog!

Since New Year’s Eve parties are over, and you’ve likely put away all of your holiday decor, you probably aren’t thinking of parties or events this time of year. You’re even probably thinking of throwing away all of that extra chocolate, getting organized, and starting the year fresh. Well, I’ve got a great first (and fresh!) post of 2015 for you; perfect for that “let’s start a new beginning” feeling we likely all have right about now.
My husband and I met some friends on New Year’s Day to go for a hike in Sweetwater Creek State Park in Lithia Springs. It was a beautiful, crisp day, and the park was filled with people; probably getting a kick start on those “let’s get in shape” and “let’s spend more time outdoors” resolutions.
We took about a 3.5 mile hike along a beautiful river and when we returned to the visitors center, we noticed a family excitedly huddled together peering down one of the hiking trails. They asked us which trail the “blue” one was and explained that they were waiting for their son and his girlfriend to come back from a hike.
Since they seemed so excited, we waited around to see what the big surprise might be, and as some of you may have guessed, the son proposed to his now fiancé, who of course said YES!
It was so wonderful to see the family jump out to surprise the happy couple. What a great way to start fresh for 2015!

What do you plan to do to make 2015 the best year yet?!

Adam and Eric Leave it All on the Field

Adam and Eric had the COOLEST sports themed Bnai Mitzvah at the College Football Hall of Fame! This was the first event of its kind at the venue and was basically any sports loving boy’s dream come true.

The party began with guests entering through an authentic “tunnel” just like the players do; with automated football players illuminating the space, and welcoming the guests into “the game”. The adults then headed into cocktail hour and the kids, instead of trying to crash the cocktail hour or peek into the reception area, played on a huge, indoor football field. Such a cool space for the kids to just be kids in!

The party kicked off with tons of energy thanks to Atlanta Fever, and continued throughout the evening to the guests’ delight. Fever added a new element of live music with a drummer that amped up the party even more, he was awesome and really fun to watch.

Memories in a Moment provided a fun, photo outlet for the guests when they needed a break from all the dance floor action.

The original décor in the venue was really top notch; we especially love this photo of Adam in front of a towering, illuminated wall of college football helmets! Thanks to Photographer Jeff Blumenthal for capturing this, and all of the other amazing shots throughout the evening.

As the night went on, the kids snacked on popcorn, funnel cakes and other “game day” type foods, and departed with mini waters with the boys’ logo, chocolate milk, and a 2 pack of Krispy Kreme doughnuts, a crowd fave! Everyone danced non stop and could barely walk while trying to make their way out of the tunnel – the sign of a great party!

The College football Hall of Fame even gave each boy a jersey with their last name in it. So cool!

We had an amazing time hosting this event at a brand new venue for the Bar Mitzvah boys. Congrats to you both on your accomplishment!

Testimonial:

Thank you so much for all that you did to ensure that we had a wonderful Mitzvah weekend.  We are so proud of A&E and all that they accomplished and we were able to enjoy every minute of the weekend with our family and friends. We have sung your praises to everyone.  You did an AMAZING job working with a very difficult venue and we appreciate your diligence in working with them.  We know it was not easy! Thank you also for handling all of the details (large and small). Our kids love you and you made them feel so special throughout the entire process.  We realize that we would not have been able to enjoy every minute of the weekend if you were not an integral part of it.  Thanks again for everything!
