Brooke’s “B” Mitzvah!

Brooke opted for a super cool Bat Mizvah venue in trendy Midtown at Opera.

Brooke1199

The party kicked off with the kids inside the club and the adults in a tent outside. The kids enjoyed getting the party started with Khalil and VIBE, while they munched on “cows” in a blanket and mac n cheese fritters, just to name a couple.

The adults enjoyed delicious cocktails and fabulous apps of Caprese salad on crostini and mushroom fontina flatbread (among others) and rocked out to “throwback” 70s and 80s music to start the evening off right!

After a short dance set, dinner was served. Guests enjoyed an array of choices, from a pasta station, to gorgeous grilled veggies and an herbed flat iron steak, but the highlight was for sure the live sushi station! Brooke’s friends and family enjoyed made-to-order sushi creations from the sushi chef.

After dinner, the party kicked into high gear with VIBE! Everyone danced the night away, taking breaks only to “B” hydrated and perhaps to visit the green screen provided by Button It Up.

Laura Tarquino with Vosamo captured all of the fabulous moments throughout the evening and made sure to catch this great shot of the “dance floor” picture complete with glow sticks!

Maya’s Magnificent Mitzvah!

Maya selected the Westside Cultural Arts Center to celebrate her Bat Mitvah with all of her family and friends.

As her guests entered the party, they oooh’d and ahhhhh’d over the fun and festive décor. Balloonacy did an awesome job; from her signature “M” logo, to swirls and chevron galore! Maya chose to deck out her space with classic colors of silver, black, pink and turquoise.

Catered by Bold American Events, guests enjoyed appetizers of mini smoked gouda and BBQ chicken flatbread, Caprese salad on a stick and mini loaded baked potatoes.

adult apps

Once the adults wrapped up cocktail hour and entered the party, dinner was served, and there was literally something for everyone. So that you don’t try to eat your screen, we’ll try to keep our description here simple. Adults had a choice of two stations (or hey, eat both!):

Italian Inspired Station: Here guests feasted on Caesar salad, balsamic roasted chicken, seared salmon, and fingerling potatoes with arugula.

Savory BBQ Sundae Station: This was such a cool twist on a classic food station! Guests were invited to build their own “sundae.” Step 1 was a base (potatoes or mac n cheese), step 2 guests picked a protein, and step 3 topped the creation off with an array of sauce choices. And finally, step four, garnish with your choice of topping! It was such a huge hit, and we’re pretty sure nobody left hungry!

Major League Micah.

It’s no surprise that many kids opt for a sports themed Mitzvah because who doesn’t love sports, right? Micah’s sports themed Mitzvah reflected his love for not one specific sport, but many. He is a baseball, soccer, tennis and basketball player, and his party certainly reflected his ‘love of the game’.

Held at Sweetwater Brewery, guests entered the parking lot to be greeted by a huge Micah banner hanging from an outdoor balcony with Micah’s logo and the slogan “Game Time, It’s On!”

Mic0985

The Micah logo was everywhere; from silhouettes on vases, to hanging “M”s, to logos on the backs of the chairs, decals on the walls, and graphics on the TV screens.

Mic0946

The décor was simple yet made such an elegant statement: rustic wooden signs, candles, and gorgeously simple arrangements of succulents among the tables.

We’d like to thank Kim Quinn Designs, I Do Linens, Let’s Celebrate and Atlanta Event Décor for all of the fabulous work they did to make Micah’s event so memorable. We’d also like to give a shout out to Peachtree Tents and Events for the tables, linens and lounge furniture.

Getting back to the party, before the guests even entered the main event space, they enjoyed cocktail hour on a beautiful evening outside on the front patio of the brewery. Nick Edelstein and his band played country music while the guests enjoyed their cocktails, delicious appetizers of ahi tuna, pigs in a blanket, shots of gazpacho, and some good ole’ fashioned tailgate cornhole.

Mic0386

As the guests entered the main event space, they were greeted with dozens of Micah’s game jerseys, all hanging from the second story balcony, as well as a super cool chicken-wire fence (of sorts) with all kinds of action shots of Micah playing the sports he loves so much.

Mic0978Mic0974

Once guests entered, they were immediately ready to party! Zest Catering was ready with a full service bar, and various food stations, some of which included a lettuce wrap station, a tailgate station and a taco station. The Zest staff even wore aprons with the “M” logo; it was everywhere!

Mic1057

Atlanta Fever cranked up the party right away and guests never left the dance floor. The room was dark, lit only with some red shine on the walls and Micah’s red logo, the guests loved it!

Mic0524

One of the coolest parts of this party was the Second Line, a traditional New Orleans dance. Apparently, the first performers in a parade are called the “first line” and a “second line” just consists of people following the parade and dancing to the beat of their own drummer, to put it simply. They often twirl parasols and hankerchiefs in the air too, and this is just what this crowd did! Songs like When the Saints Go Marching In, and the Mardi Gras Mambo blared. Everyone loved it. Something a little different is always fun!

Mic0823

While some of the younger guests took breaks from the action, Memories in a Moment was onsite to provide a fun photo outlet for all.

We’d also like to mention the great work done by photographer Vosamo, and videographer James Futch for capturing all of the wonderful moments throughout the evening.

Mic1023

Mic1046

As the party began to wind down, guests began to reach for desserts of cake and rice krispy treats, as well as passed macaroon and cupcakes.

Mic1067

As guests made their exit, they departed with “M” logo backpacks containing blue tooth speakers, a sno ball from the sno ball truck parked outside, and memories to last a lifetime! Aunt Tara and her team were thrilled to call this one a success!

We just cannot say enough about the beautiful job Juli and her team did on the décor; it was literally breathtaking. We especially LOVED this gorgeous shelf of flowers and candles hanging over the sweetheart table.

mlp-6075

We’d also like to give a shout out to Steve Hicks with Atlanta Event Décor for the stage and the rustic farm table that guests used for the couple’s sign in “plank”. The plank was such a creative idea; instead of signing a guest book, Emily and Cory’s friends and family all wrote words of congratulations on a wooden plank to be turned into a bench and cherished in the couple’s garden.

mlp-6107

Emily walked down the aisle to her eagerly awaiting groom and the two were married in a simple and beautiful ceremony. Once the couple was escorted to their private dining room (to grab a much needed bite to eat), guests moved into cocktail hour, where they enjoyed cocktails, and noshed on fabulous passed appetizers.

mlp-3010

Everyone was then invited into the main reception area where they enjoyed a plated salad of kale, candied pecans, blue cheese and granny smith apples, topped in a cider vinaigrette, courtesy of Bold American Events.

Emily and Corey opted for a cool South City Kitchen inspired menu, boasting fried chicken and gravy, mac and cheese and broccolini. They also featured a mouthwatering lemon sole served with kale, fingerling potatoes and sautéed Brussel sprouts. The coolest feature of the menu however was a “build-your-own” BBQ bowl of sorts; a huge hit with the guests!

Once everyone had had their fill, the band, Emerald Empire, kicked into high gear and everyone hit the dance floor. One of the most memorable things about this event was how laid back and relaxed both the bride and groom were; they were literally just absorbing the LOVE in the room and embracing every moment of their fabulous celebration.

“What Are You Doing for the Rest of Your Life?” Creative Approaches to The Big Question.

It’s no news flash that every girl looks forward to their fairy tale wedding and relishes in telling the story of “how he did it” when it comes to the proposal. We’ve all seen proposals at sporting events, fancy dinner venues, and the like, but we thought it would be fun to round up a few creative ideas that maybe you hadn’t thought of.

  1. Ski Lift Proposal: Yes, we know, it’s not snowing (yet) here in Georgia but what a great winter proposal idea. Spell out “will you marry me?” in the snow below the lift and show it to her from above! If you’re really feeling ambitious, you could write little love notes in the snow on the ride up and save the “big question” for the top.
  2. Scavenger Hunt Proposal: Think of a few meaningful places to you and your girlfriend as a couple; maybe throw in a stop at a nail and hair salon so that she can get all dolled up. You may even choose to go the extra mile and hire a professional photographer to capture the big moment once she finds you at the end of the hunt. Then all you’ll have to do is pop the question in a beautiful, romantic spot she will most certainly never forget!
  3. Create A Personalized Movie: With so much technology at our fingertips, its simple to make a homemade movie for the one you love. You can compile your favorite pictures together and set your slide show to “your” song, or even videotape yourself in all of the memorable places you’ve been together. You may even choose to include her family in this one; have her watch the movie, then have family and friends on site to help you both celebrate, and of course to watch your movie masterpiece themselves.
  4. Game Night Proposal: Plan a game night for just the two of your or with friends. When it’s your girlfriend’s turn to answer a question, say: “Your question is: Will You Marry Me?” Make sure to make an actual trivia card so that she can treasure this moment for years to come.
  5. Photo Book or Scrapbook Proposal: This one is our favorite. Make a scrapbook of all of your memories together; from the places you’ve been (vacations, sporting events, etc.), to all of the things that are unique and special to you as a couple. Present her with the book and when she gets to the end, drop down on one knee and pop the big question.

Asking someone to spend the rest of their life with you is a big deal and should be tailored to your personal style and preference. It has to fit YOU! We hope that these ideas have inspired you to get a little creative! If you have a great proposal idea you’d like to share, please post it in the comments below!
